Our Story

Fifty-Fifty Tuxedos is a family owned and operated men's formal wear business established in 1929

Santo & Francis

Founded by Anthony DeGeorge in downtown Reading, PA in May of 1929, Fifty-Fifty Tuxedos is one of the oldest tuxedo businesses in the nation still owned by the same family.

Formalwear tradition was carried down through Anthony’s daughter, Francis, and her husband, Santo, who took over the business and ran it until the 1980s when their two sons, Gerard and Anthony, joined the business full-time.

With both sons joining the family business, by the mid-1980s Fifty-Fifty Tuxedos had three locations: the original location at the corner of 4th & Spruce. A location in Sinking Spring ran by Gerry, and a location in Mount Penn ran by Anthony. The 4th & Spruce location remained the drycleaning and inventory headquarters.

In 2002, Gerry purchased what is now the only location at 4118 Penn Avenue. All operations now take place here with a full drycleaning plant, alterations, and inventory housed on site. We are our own warehouse!

In 2019, Gerry’s son, Alex, joined the business full-time as 4th generation ownership begins to take shape.

At Fifty-Fifty Tuxedos, we pride ourselves on our family atmosphere and customer service, and we firmly stand by our most important rule:
